One of Triad’s partners, ThinkZone Games, is excited to announce that we are finalists in the Reach Higher Career App Challenge. The challenge, sponsored by Luminosity Labs and the U.S. Department of Education, is part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher Initiative. The Challenge launched last October, calling for new mobile technologies to help students navigate education and career pathways.
Our app, Hats & Ladders, is a game-based app that supports middle and high school career exploration with swipe-to-choose self-assessments, connected activities, and mini-challenges. Hats & Ladders provides repeat exposure to a broad spectrum of careers and enables students to draw connections between their personal attributes and multiple pathways to career success. Once the product is complete, we will post additional details on our blog, so be sure to subscribe to our news via RSS.

Triad was a part of the ED Games Expo again this year! On December 9, 2015, the ED Games Expo showcased 30 small business firms and 60 games for learning developed with the support of SBIR. At the Expo, attendees played serious learning games while meeting the developers. It was the 3rd year in a row for the Expo (see a recap of the 2013 Expo here to read this link content and the 2014 Expo here) and 2nd year in a row for Triad. The event was open to the public and free to attend.
Triad Interactive Media and our NYC friends Electric Funstuff were both Gold winners at the Serious Play Conference! Triad won for our math education program, PlatinuMath, a game-based professional development program for training K-8 pre-service and in-service teachers in mathematics. This recognition program honors outstanding serious games that deliver a high quality of engagement and measurable training or learning opportunities. Read more details here.

Winners for the 21st Annual Best Educational Software Awards (BESSIEs) were recently announced, and we won for our product, PlatinuMath, which took the award for Best Math Simulation! The ComputED Gazette’s BESSIE Awards go to products that provide parents and teachers with the technology to foster educational excellence.
Exciting news! Triad and PlatinuMath were featured on when a recent panel of educational gaming experts met last week in Washington, DC advocating for more serious educational gaming in schools! PlatinuMath is designed to engage and motivate teachers with learning math and gaming—building a passion for games AND math—so that they make take that passion back to the classroom! See the video here.
